The Art of Software

According to the Capgemini Research Institute report titled “The Art of Software: The New Path to Creating Value Across Industries,” organizations across all industries are redefining themselves as software companies, moving away from traditional software-centric business. hardware. This momentum will drive greater demand for software-based service offerings.
Across industries, software and software-enabled technologies such as cloud, Internet of Things (IoT), high-performance networks (including 5G), and AI/ML are accelerating innovation and research and development (R&D) for products and services, creating customized solutions for customers. experiences, introducing new revenue streams and business models and reducing costs, the report adds. In particular, the advent of generative artificial intelligence has accelerated this trend. As demand for connected, intelligent products and services grows, organizations are turning to technologies like generative artificial intelligence to assist engineers throughout the entire software development lifecycle and accelerate software code delivery.

According to the report, generative AI tools are expected to increase time saved for software engineering by 15% to 43% over the next three years. “Seven in 10 organizations plan to use generative AI to complement and enhance existing software engineering over the next year and expect these tools to help create 37% of code over the next three years. Only 28% of organizations surveyed said they do not intend to use generative AI to support software engineering in the next 12 months,” the report indicates.

“We have entered a new era of software-driven business. Organizations need a change in mindset if they want to differentiate, innovate and remain competitive. Thinking must abandon the use of digital technologies as an add-on or tool to correct creases and smooth edges. Instead, leaders must view software as a key strategic asset that unlocks myriad benefits and establishes competitive differentiation,” said William Rozé, CEO of Capgemini Engineering and member of the Capgemini Group Executive Committee.
